The Plucky Dip is a feature of the Acoustic Soundboard UK annual gatherings where random groups are selected ahead of time and given a couple of weeks to come up with a performance piece. Most leave the rehearsing till an hour before the performance, that is if they decide to do any rehearsing!

Michael at the Acoustic Soundboard UK annual gathering in Halifax, September 2018. This is a song written by the late great Hamish Imlach. This was Michael’s first gathering so I wasn’t the only HB virgin!
It was a real treat to hear Richard’s playing at HB9 in Halifax, the 9th annual gathering of the Acoustic Soundboard UK guitar forum (Forum Link). This was one of the first songs he wrote and he explained a bit about how he came up with it during a songwriting workshop on the Saturday afternoon. I’d love to sit down with Richard and record an interview. Two of my favourite guitars at the gathering both belonged to Richard, a Waterloo and a gorgeous Fylde Falstaff in walnut. D’you know, the more Fyldes I play, the more I come to think that one would really suit me.
